  31. When you upgrade to version 1.4 of firmware, the dialing and
  32. connection sound disappears when using Win95 Dial-up Networking. The
  33. sounds are still there in all Win 3.1 applications and most Win95
  34. communications applications. The reason for disappearance of the sound
  35. is a symbol in a dialing string used by Dial-Up Networking. 
  36.  
  37. A way to get connection sound back is to use a different driver.
  38. Driver for MVP288XF (or FX or something of that kind; it's an external
  39. version of 288I) is supplied in the inf file that comes with 1.4
  40. upgrade.
